3D Models

A selection of 3D models from the baseline survey at Skeiðarárjökull are available to view over at my Sketchfab Profile. They have been created using a variety of software including; Agisoft Photoscan, Meshlab, Blender, QGIS, AutoDesk Recap Pro, Autodesk Civil3D and Quikgrid.

Skeiðarárjökull – 1991 surge limit (Buried Ice) EM-31 Conductivity Data

This model shows the relative conductive low associated with buried ice exposed at the surface. To create this model the contoured conductivity plot had to be georeferenced, overlain and rendered onto the DTM mesh. I really enjoyed the challenge of displaying the conductivity data in a 3D environment and aim to improve upon this over time.

This model shows results from the SfM photogrammetry carried out at the buried ice exposure at the 1991 surge limit. The DTM was constrained using permanent and removable ground control points (GCPs) coordinated with RTK GNSS.

This model shows results from the SfM photogrammetry carried out at the 1991 surge limit. The DTM was constrained using permanent and removable ground control points (GCPs) coordinated with RTK GNSS. A stark change in geomorphology can be observed within this model.
